How To Relax ? : Practice Shavasana 
Unwind & Be Healthy, Stress free


Shavasana -- (A Relaxation position in Yoga) -- Typical period: About 15 minutes.

Spread a soft blanket & lie on the back.

Cultivate a “Let Go “feeling.

Spread your legs little apart. Open hands apart, by the side, slightly away from the body.

Relax completely.

Relax all muscles, nerves & organs.

Close your eyes.

Breathe slowly and rhythmically.

Start the relaxation process from the toes & move upwards slowly towards face. See abdominal organs, heart, chest brain are also relaxed.

Have an order. Do not sleep. In this pose you will enjoy perfect peace, ease, comfort & relaxation.



Slowly focus your attention on your right toe. Relax your right toe. Shake it a little if you want to create awareness. Relax left toe similarly.

Right little fingers (Give attention & relax them).
Left little fingers (Give attention & relax them).

Right sole (Give attention & relax them).
Left sole (Give attention & relax them).

Focus your attention on these parts and verbally give commands to these parts to relax completely.

Relax right ankle joint.

Relax left ankle joint.

Relax right leg (between knee & ankle joint).

Relax calf muscles.

Relax left leg (between knee & ankle joint).

Relax calf muscles.

Feel both legs relaxed.

Notice your body in tune with mind.

Relax left knee joint

Relax right thigh -- muscles, hamstrung

Relax left thigh

Relax -- lower abdomen, genitals, and buttocks

Relax -- upper abdomen -- verbal command

Relax -- liver, kidneys, small intestines.

Visualize that all of them are working healthily & relaxing.

Relax for sometime.

Now slowly focus your attention back towards the body. Shake your fingers a little. Shake your fingers and toes a little. Slowly open your eyes. Look at the ceiling.

Slowly turn towards left side & taking support of your hand sit down.

This completes Shavasana.

Benefits: The pleasant & exhilarating feeling can only be realized by those who can successfully do this asan.

If you are tired from a hard work, perform this asan for 5 minutes. You will be fit again to continue your hardwork with the same vigor.

Relaxation refreshes you completely.

Energy flows in your nerves when you relax just as water flows when the tap is opened.
