Anxiety is a state of apprehension or fear arising due to the anticipation of a real or imagined threat or situation. It is a psychological and physiological state. It is associated with uneasiness, fear, apprehension, alarm, worry or dread.
  

Anxiety is a normal response to stress. It helps one to cope with difficult situations in office or at home. But when fear becomes excessive, it becomes a disabling anxiety disorder.

Anxiety gives rise to both: physical and psychological reactions / sensations such as:

     Heart palpitations
     Racing thoughts
     Chest pain / tightness
     Shortness of breath
     Dizziness
     Fear of death or insanity
     A trapped feeling
 



When you feel anxious, body prepares itself to deal with a possible danger. Your blood pressure increases, heart beats increase & sweating increases. You experience different body sensations.

Panic attacks may be triggered by a situation or an event or they may come just without warning. You perceive the danger to be real, though the fear is generally irrational.

It is quite likely that you may feel that you are about to die or pass out when you experience a panic attack. Quite often panic attacks are confused with heart attacks.

Panic attacks are scary but not dangerous. But you do feel that your life is threatened.

Following approaches have been successfully used in modern methods for stopping / minimizing anxiety / panic attacks. These approaches are easy to include in your daily routine & can prepare you for better coping up with anxiety / panic attacks.

1) Diet

A proper diet can help you to eliminate anxiety.

Diet is one of the helpful factors in minimizing / eliminating anxiety. Balanced diet is very helpful. Certain food items are good for calming down oneself and other items are best avoided.

Water

Fresh water is good as an anxiety cure.
Bodily functions are highly related to the flow of water through the body. Water is a medium through which hormones and nutrients are taken to and / or taken from different body organs.

If the body is not well-hydrated, body gives rise to different sensations including anxiety responses.

Anxiety can be contained by fresh drinking water. It is recommended that we drink 8 glasses of water to keep anxiety & panic attacks away.

Dehydration causes anxiety and therefore if you drink plenty of fresh water, you will be able to contain / eliminate anxiety. Water also builds stamina and avoids fatigue through out the day.

Food

A very acidic diet lowers resistance to stress. Acidic environment inside our body can exaggerate our anxiety. The body is in good health when its pH is balanced inside. This is done by consuming more alkaline food.

Body’s resistance goes down if you eat salt, sugar and refined or processed foods. Fruits and vegetables increase body resistance.

Following food items are acidic: Sugar, Proteins, salt, nuts, grains, and dairy products (except yoghurt).

Alkaline group food items are : Fruit, vegetables, and juices.

Alkaline diet helps to eliminate anxiety. So including fruits and vegetables in your diet is advisable.
